What to expect

The LTE-M is comparable with the LoRa Workshop, but with obvious differences. During this workshop, you’ll get to know the features of the LTE - M Network and be given the opportunity to develop your own IoT application with our developers board, the Marv 2. This is an Arduino based board with multiple in-and outputs. You will map your own application server, including: website, database and dashboard. After the workshop, you will be able to keep the board to continue your work with the concept at home or at the office. The workshop starts at 4 p.m. and will finish at 9 p.m.

What is LTE-M? :

LTE-M is one of the new technical standards for IoT applications (Abbreviation for Long Term Evolution (4G, Category M1)), is used specifically for Machine to Machine applications. It is a low power protocol with just a little more frequency range than LoRa, which causes an easier way of up and down linking and in the future even voice connection can be made. (also VOLTE; Voice Over LTE).

What you’ll learn in this workshop:

You will learn the basics of LTE-M and you will receive important information about the protocol (for example: power save possibilities, encryption & security). During the workshop, you will learn by doing. You will learn how to make use of the KPN Developers Portal: You’ll learn how to connect data from your device with a third party server by using LTE-M and how you can get data back from the device.
